Erika Schonemann

Erika received her MFA in dance from George Mason University and a BA in dance from the University of Maryland, College Park as a Creative and Performing Arts full scholarship recipient. She has also trained in New York City at the Merce Cunningham Studio as part of the Professional Training Program, as well as at the Jose Limon Institute, Steps on Broadway, and the Dance Space Center. As a performer, Erika has had the pleasure of working with artists and companies which include Terry Creach, Christalyn Wright, Scott Rink, Jessica Chisam Goulding, Cirque Le Masque, Tommy Parlon Dance Projects, Jeslyn Dance Gallery, and Jane Franklin Dance. Her performing has taken her all over the US and abroad to Cergy-Pontoise, France and Athens and Volos, Greece. Her choreography has been presented in many venues throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and West Virginia. Most notable include Washington DC based venues such as Joy of Motion and Dance Place, and the DC Dance Festival; The Goose Route Dance Festival in Shepardstown, WV; Brooklyn, NY-based One Arm Red's Red Shoes performance series, and The 2007 DUMBO Dance Festival. She has created works for The Morton Street Dance Center in Baltimore, CrossCurrents Dance Company, The DC Improvisation Festival 2006, Jane Franklin's Dance Sampler; and she has showcased work at The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American Art as part of DC Dances; a Performing Arts Exchange (PAE) Independent Showcase in 2006. In addition to directing Next Reflex Dance Collective, Erika is also an Adjunct Professor at Marymount University and is a certified Method Pilates mat instructor.

Roxann Morgan Rowley

Roxann Morgan Rowley completed her MFA at George Mason University and her BA in dance at George Washington University. An artist and performer in the DC Metro area, she has worked with local artists and companies including Sharon Mansur (MansurDance), Adrienne Clancy (Clancy Works), Steven Mazolla (American Century Theater), Daniel Burkholder and the Playground, Daniel Pheonix Singh/Dakshina Dance Company, Anomosmotion, and Jane Franklin Dance Company. She has choreographed for The American Century Theater, contributing to productions such as The Picnic, A Flag is Born and In the Summer House. Her choreography has also been performed at George Mason University in The George Mason University Dance Concerts and The Vagina Monologues. She has also presented work at James Madison University in their Virginia Repertory Dance Company concert, JMU Student Dance Concerts and New Dance Festival (2006.) Her work has been showcased in productions at Dance Place and Joy of Motion in Washington, DC, Dancing Across the Virginias at the Court Square Theatre in Harrisonburg, VA, the Charlotte Dance Festival in NC, Arts for Change, Mount Rainer, MD, Dance Sampler, presented by Jane Franklin in Arlington, VA and The Goose Route Dance Festival in Sheperdstown, WV. Roxann was on part-time dance faculty at James Madison University for the last two years teaching a variety of classes to majors and minors in the dance program. She has also taught for Fairfax County Public Schools Institute for the Arts, George Mason University dance department and helped contribute movement workshops to INOVA Hospital's Life with Cancer program.

Kursten Anderson (dancer)

Kursten Anderson graduated cum laude from Goucher College with a BA in Dance with concentrations in Arts Administration and Choreography. While at Goucher, Kursten not only was in the works of the dance faculty and fellow students but had the opportunity to perform in the works of numerous guest artists including Adrienne Clancy, Ed Tyler, Tiffany Mills, Heather McArdle, Roger C. Jeffery, and Gabe Masson as well as performing in the reconstructions of Doris Humphrey's Libation Bearers and Sarabande and Vaslay Nijinsky's L'Apres-midi d'un Faun. Kursten has also attended the American Dance Festival and Bates Dance Festival to study with artists such as Lisa Race, Shani Collins, Ishmael Houston Jones, and Angie Hauser. While at the Bates Dance Festival, Kursten performed in Jane Comfort's company repertoire work. Presently, she is teaching Pilates at the Goucher College Pilates Center as a Romanas Pilates certified instructor and teaching dance in the Baltimore area.

Joy DiLillo Harrington (dancer)

Joy DiLillo Harrington graduated from George Mason University School of Performing Arts with a BFA degree in Dance and was the recipient of several scholarships as well as the award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Dance. She is a member of the faculty at American Dance Institute, and a company member of Next Reflex Dance Collective. She has performed in the works of Susan Marshall, Kevin Campbell and Kate Skarpetowska and has studied at the Bates Summer Dance Festival, American College Dance Festivals, David Parsons Company and Chautauqua Dance Festivals. Joy’s choreography has been presented at George Mason University, Herndon High School, and at the Town of Vienna Theatre and is currently working on a program of new works for music and dance with Professor Jesse Guessford and choreographing an adaptation of Into the Woods.

Jennifer Michaels (dancer)

Jennifer Michaels is a Chicago native who holds a B.F.A. in Dance performance from Northern Illinois University. She studied on full scholarship at the Ruth Page School of Dance under the tutelage of Larry Long, as well as with Anna Paskevska at the Chicago Academy for the Arts. She danced with the Chattanooga Ballet as a principal dancer for 5 years, and held the position of resident choreographer at the Center for Creative Arts in Tennessee, a performing arts magnet school. Her performance experience includes classical ballet, modern, opera, and musical theater.

Shannon Quinn (dancer)

Shannon Quinn graduated from Winthrop University in South Carolina in 2004. She earned her BA in Dance with K-12 certification. Shannon is currently on staff at Dance Place as the Outreach Coordinator. She currently teaches though out the DC Metropolitan area in several DC public schools as well as Knock on Wood Tap Studio, Jewish Community Center, and Dance Place. Shannon is also on faculty at the Catholic University of America where she teaches beginning and intermediate Modern dance classes. Shannon has danced with Modern dance company Carla and Company for three years. She has also performed works by other choreographers such as Jessica Merchant, Helanius Wilkens, Amir Kolbin, April Betty, Sandra Atkinson, Lynn Bowman, Mary Love Ward and Nellie Rainwater.

Ilana Faye Silverstein (dancer and Development Coordinator)

Ilana Silverstein graduated from Denison University with a B.A. degree in Dance and Environmental Studies in May 2002 and has studied and performed modern dance and improvisation in Ohio, India, Illinois, Massachusetts, and the DC area. She currently fundraises for Step Afrika!, and assists local D.C. artists including Holly Bass and Laura Schandelmeier and Stephen Clapp. In addition to Next Reflex Dance Collective, Ilana dances with Daniel Burkholder/The PlayGround and creates work through The Field.

Amanda Abrams (dancer)

Amanda Abrams is a modern dancer based in Washington, DC. Originally from North Carolina, she has danced with several DC-based groups and her choreography has been shown at Dance Place and Joy of Motion. Amanda is an avid improviser, helps facilitate a weekly contact improvisation jam, and is the former organizer of the DC Improvisation Festival. When not dancing, she's feverishly at work trying to make it as a freelance writer.
